Due to popular demand Cookie, Cupcakes and Miniature Cake decorating classes start next month in Epsom.
All classes will be suitable for all abilities and you will go away with the knowledge of how to create sugar models, flowers, piping skills and using sugarpaste and royal icing. The classes are themed so you will be able to produce cakes and cookies for all occasions. I'm very excited about starting these classes and I'm sure that the people who come will have a great time.
The other very exciting peice of news is that I will be on the television on Friday 28th January and Friday 25th February in Wedding TV's New Great Cake Bake on Sky channel 266 at 7pm. I really enjoyed filming these programmes so I hope you enjoy them!
I'm still very busy creating my 2011 collection which will be photographed early next month, so until next time …

Designer cake leads to sweet success for Janet Mohapi-Banks
Janet’s sculptural cake design business has been voted as the Precious Awards Start-up Business of the Year 2010. The award was presented by Anna Njie from Urban Inclusion, at a prestigious reception held at The British Library in London.
“To be nominated was exciting, but to win is amazing! I’ve had an incredible year and this award has given me such a confidence boost, I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store”, explained company founder Janet Mohapi-Banks.
Completely self-taught in the art of sugar craft, Epsom-based Janet started the company in 2009 and hasn’t looked back since. Her designs have appeared in national publications including Condé Nast Bride Brides magazine and will be seen on national television in January 2011.
Janet is currently designing the Janet Mohapi-Banks 2011 Collection, due to launch early February 2011 and looking forward to building strong relationships as a preferred supplier with top London hotels, including The Dorchester.

Once again, apologies for the lack of updates. We have been creating a new collection of contemporary white wedding cakes, some of which are currently on the site, the others to be added soon. We have also designed a collection of miniature cakes.
The cheese wedding cakes are proving to be very popular and our sweet wedding cakes are becoming very sought after, so with that in mind, please remember to book your consultation early as I really hate to disappoint. Although we will try to accommodate late bookings, we are now taking bookings for 2011.
Last month was a very exciting time at Janet Mohapi-Banks Ltd. We were featured in the top selling Condé Nast Brides Magazine. You can see us on page 149 of the May / June issue.

We have also been featured on the fabulous blog by April Browne of Crystal-Jewels handmade jewellery. The blog piece is called For The Love of Cake! and can be found here
If you are looking for a unique peice of handmade jewellery please have a look at the Crystal Jewels website
We were also lucky enough to be mentioned on the Before The Big Day blog again and also on the Beyond Beyond website, as well as being mentioned in an Oxford R Magazine article written by the amazing Tracey Jefferies. You can follow Tracey on twitter under the twittername @traceyjefferies.
A couple of our more unusual cakes have also been featured on the Virgin Media website in their food and drink section on pages 2 and 7.
So all in all, we have been keeping ourselves very busy and the rest of the year looks as though it will follow in the same vein.
Until next time ...

Happy New Year!
Following the National Wedding Show in October I've been really busy, so apologies for the lack of news.
I have been featured in several press articles and blogs including the wonderful Before the Big Day which is all very nice; and I was very happy to help out Little Miss Wedding by contributing an article about wedding cakes to her blog. You can view it by going here ..
I have also started a new range in Celebration Cheese Cakes supplied by Paxton and Whitfield. Paxton and Whitfield are a fantastic cheese company that supply their cheese to Harrods, The Ritz and several Michelin star establishments. Their cheese is fantastic and I'm very pleased to offer their cheeses as part of my range.
Things are looking as though they will be very busy in the year ahead so please don't leave it too late to book cake orders as I hate it when I have to disappoint people.
Here's to a fanstastic 2010 for everyone!
Based just outside London in Epsom, Surrey, I started making cakes with my Grandmother as soon as I was old enough to sit at the kitchen table. Since then I have perfected cake baking and design producing mouth watering cakes that taste as good as they look.
